Blondes on Parade: Women “Go Blonde!” in Latvia for Charity
May 29, 2010 04:27 PM EDT (May 29, 2010)
// The Latvian Association of Blondes held its second annual “Go Blonde!” parade in Riga, today. The first year, the main goal was to cheer people up with a bunch of blondes descending upon the city. After the first year’s success, the Latvian Association of Blondes decided to turn it into a charity event. This year’s theme? Marilyn Monroe’s “Some Like It Hot.”
Proceeds from the event and related merchandise will go toward a handicapped accessible children’s playground in Riga. Other charitable works supported by the blondes include a “Princess Camp” to offer pampering and refreshment for mothers of disabled children, and a “Snow White Ball” for disabled children.
People travel from all over Europe to attend the event, which, according to the Estonian Free Press, has been featured “on the front pages of most of the European fashion-related magazines.” Sponsors include airBalticTravel, and airBaltic Hotels, as well as, not surprisingly, Gatineau, a brand of beauty products.
